JOIN US THIS SUMMER!!!
This summer mark your calendars for this amazing 10 day intensive and the opportunity to train with the highly acclaimed HCCD staff as well as Guest Artist, Mr. Bruce Steivel (see bio below). Dancers will train, study, and prepare an end of intensive performance for family and friends.
Various levels will be offered:
- Beginning/Intermediate dancers’ program will include daily technique class, stretching, conditioning, and repertoire.
- Advanced dancers’ program will include daily technique class, pointe, repertoire, and variations. Depending upon a dancer’s level, an additional daily class for solo repertoire will also be available.
DATES: The intensive runs ten consecutive days from June 19-29th (with the exclusion of Sunday, June 23rd). The times vary by level. There are “drop-ins” rates for those who cannot attend the entire event. Dancers who wish to perform in the final showcase must attend the full intensive.
LEVEL TIMES:
- Beginning/Intermediate Program: 9-12:00pm
- Advanced Program: 1-4:00pm (or 4:30pm depending upon level)
TUITION & FEES:
- Early Bird Discount ($50.00 off the below prices) – Register by March 1st!
- $150.00 Down Payment required at time of registration. The remaining amount is required on the first day of the intensive.

Master ballet intensive GUEST ARTIST – MR. BRUCE STEIVELBruce Steivel is an internationally recognized choreographer, teacher, and Artistic Director. Previously, Mr. Steivel served as the Artistic Director of Bern Stadt Theatre in Switzerland, the Hong Kong Ballet, the Universal Ballet of Korea, and Nevada Ballet Theatre, where he served as artistic director for over a decade.
As Artistic Director for the Hong Kong Ballet Mr. Steivel developed a strong internationally accepted company and secured their first American tour along with an extensive tour to China including Beijing, and Shanghai. He added a full orchestra to performances and took the company from a small rehearsal space to the space the company now occupies in the Grand Theatre in Kowloon. He added several full-length ballets to the repertoire including works from Andre Prokovsky, Heinz Spoerli and Peter Anastos along with several of his own and various one act ballets from notable choreographer’s world- wide.
As Artistic Director of Universal Ballet of Korea Mr. Steivel developed an extensive touring program for the company which included the United States, Japan, and Europe. He enlarged the repertoire with several full length and one act ballets.
As Artistic Director of Nevada Ballet Theatre, Mr. Steivel expanded the repertoire by adding thirty ballets – 13 from visiting choreographers and seventeen of his own creation. His Nutcracker was a holiday favorite, along with Peter Pan, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Good Times. Several of his works are in the repertoire of five major dance companies. His Giselle, Coppelia and Swan Lake are now being performed by the Tianjin Ballet in Tianjin, China, Chongching, China and Shenyang, China.
Before moving to Oklahoma Mr. Steivel was founder and Artistic Director of the Bay Pointe Ballet in San Francisco, California where he directed a company of thirty-four dancers and opened a highly respected school.
Mr. Steivel is frequently sought after as a guest teacher, teaching for Nederland Dans Theatre, the Norwegian National Ballet, the Hungarian National Ballet, the National Ballet of Portugal, the Berlin Stadstoper, Beijing Ballet, Shanghai Ballet, the National Ballet of Greece, the National Institute of Istanbul, Turkey and numerous schools in Japan and America.
